The Ministry of Silly Propaganda is hereby recognized as an anonymous, unauthorized, and entirely wholesome temporary art installation initiative for citizens who refuse to accept the false narrative that humanity is fundamentally divided and unchangeable. Our agents utilize widely available, secondhand, and otherwise disregarded materials to create signs, notices, banners, declarations, and miscellaneous visual artifacts which are discreetly deployed into schools, malls, grocery stores, libraries, and other public zones of human convergence for the purpose of unifying and uplifting the community.
These original works deliver such radical messages as:
BE NICE
BE KIND
UNITY
…and other dangerously hopeful statements.
We assert, with cheerful confidence, that humans contain more similarities than differences. Most of us simply desire:
- safe, pleasant days and nights
- good meals
- meaningful direction
- connection with people we care about
- a sense of authorship over our own lives
Despite this, there exists a considerable industrial effort dedicated to division; propaganda designed to fracture solidarity and preserve the status quo built upon a quarreling public and the manufactured scarcity of resources. A staggering amount of money and energy is dedicated to convincing us that others are irredeemable and we must only look out for ourselves; We respectfully decline participation in that.
Which brings us to our methodology:
We introduce silliness as a controlled destabilizing agent.
Silliness that disarms the cynic;
Silliness confuses authoritarian messaging.
Through silliness, we remember to question the seriousness of the narratives handed to us. Through absurdity, we recall our own agency. We realize, at last, that we can also make propaganda — propaganda in favor of solidarity, compassion, unity, and love.
We invite you, humbly, unofficially, and with full bureaucratic encouragement,
to join us in the gentle subversion of cynicism.
